I started coaching at 18, a few months out of high school, with more passion than knowledge. I spent my first 11 seasons at one high school, first as a freshman assistant, then a JV assistant, and then as the freshman head coach. Moving through different levels taught me the game from every angle, and it taught me something bigger: the coaches who make the biggest difference aren’t always the ones with the most talent on the roster. They’re the ones who prepare, keep learning, and care about their players as people first.

Today I’m in my 12th year, teaching social studies full time and coaching as an assistant at a high school program working to find its footing. I know what it’s like to be the underdog because I’m living it right now.

That’s why I built Underdog Hoops. Most coaches don’t have a big staff, a big budget, or a big name. What they do have is a gym, a group of kids, and a chance to change lives. Through Underdog Hoops University, Play Lab, the podcast, and our coaching library, I share what I’ve learned in the gym, at clinics, and from coaches I respect, so you can spend less time guessing and more time coaching.
